About the Play

Linda Libby as Margaret Thatcher and Sandy Campbell as Queen Elizabeth II.

Step through the palace doors and into the ring with the Queen and the Iron Lady. Liz and Maggie. Born 6 months apart, Queen Elizabeth II and Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher were from two different worlds. One destined to rule, the other elected to lead. But when the gloves came off, which one had the upper hand? FOUR of San Diego’s favorite leading ladies play Britain’s two icons in this award-winning comedy of mythic proportions. From London to DC, DC to New York and now in its West Coast Premiere at MOXIE, don’t miss the show that has critics from both sides of the pond raving.

★★★★★ “Theatrical heaven… simply smashing” — DC Theatre Scene
★★★★★ “Magnificent” — Sunday Telegraph
“If you’ve been feasting on ‘The Crown,’ Moira Buffini’s delectable ‘Handbagged’ will skip you ahead to the Thatcher years.” — Washington Post
