MOXIE Theatre and SDSU Presents a Big Night of Little Plays
An evening of new plays written by the students of SDSU.
Sunday April 22 @ 7pm
6663 El Cajon Boulevard, Suite N
San Diego, CA 92115.
Free Admission. Donations accepted at the door.
What do you get when you put together 10 student playwrights (who’ve never seen their work staged before), 10 student dramaturgs, 20 professional actors, and 10 professional directors? You get magic, discovery, and a theatre event unlike any other in San Diego. San Diego State University’s Department of Theatre, Television, and Film and MOXIE Theatre are excited to announce their third annual collaboration for the #tenminuteplays, an exciting event highlighting the work of upcoming writers and vibrant local artists.
SDSU student playwrights will be given a secret prompt on the Saturday morning before the event; as well as, several necessary “ingredients” (such as a prop, sound cues, a line of dialogue), which they must incorporate in their plays. The plays are written, rehearsed, and mounted all in a 48-hour period. This ten-minute play “bakeoff” is in the tradition of Paula Vogel’s writing workshops, and sure to provide a unique evening of entertainment for viewers of any background.
