About the Play
Yoga apparel giant Jojomon is at the top of its game when a terrible scandal sends them into freefall. Newly hired CEO Joan stakes everything on a wild plan to recover their earnings and their reputation. YOGA PLAY is a comedy about enlightenment in a world determined to sell it.
Dipika Guha was born in Calcutta and raised in the United Kingdom, Russia and India. Her plays include Yoga Play (South Coast Rep, Upcoming: Gateway Theatre Vancouver, Moxie Theatre & SF Playhouse), The Art of Gaman (Theatre 503 London, The Kilroys List, Relentless Award semifinalist), Unreliable (Upcoming: Kansas City Rep) and contributions to You Across From Me (Humana, Actors Theatre of Louisville). Recent works includes Azaan, a play written for an orchestra commissioned by Oregon Symphony, Elizabeth for the McCarter Theatre’s Princeton and Slavery Project, In Braunau, for Playwrights Horizons Theatre School (SF Playhouse workshop production) and Malicious Animal Magnetism with Jeremy Cohen for ACT/Z Space in San Francisco.

Dipika has developed work across the United States and has been the recipient of several residencies and fellowships including the Venturous Fellowship, the Hodder Fellowship, the Shakespeare’s Sister Fellowship, the Djerassi Residency Program, the Hermitage Retreat, Ucross, the Sallie B. Goodman Retreat at the McCarter Theatre, SPACE at Ryder Farm and a Dramatists Guild Fellowship. She is an alumnus of Ars Nova Playgroup, the Soho Rep Writer/Director Lab, the Women’s Project Lab and the Ma-Yi Writers Lab. Dipika was recently a visiting artist at the Schell Center for International Human Rights in developing work at the intersection of art and human rights law. She also worked intensively on a project on gender bias with socialogists and biologists at the Yale School for Scientific Teaching.
For television, Dipika wrote for American Gods on Starz and for Paradise Lost on AMC and for Sneaky Pete on Amazon.
Dipika holds a BA in English Literature from University College London, a Frank Knox Fellowship from Harvard University and an MFA from the Yale School of Drama where she studied under Paula Vogel. She is a resident playwright at the Playwrights Foundation, a Core Writer at the Playwrights Center in Minneapolis and part of the inaugural writers group at the Geffen Playhouse in Los Angeles. She is currently under commission from Manhattan Theatre Club/Sloan, South Coast Rep, Barrington Stage and New Conservatory Theatre Center.
