MOXIE Theatre, dedicated to producing women+’s work, and Common Ground Theatre, San Diego’s premier Black theatre since 1964, joined forces to bring people together online to share a meal, witness the world premiere of new plays and build community.

About: Ayesha is pregnant. What should be a time for celebration becomes rife with complexity as she and her husband Richard, a white police officer, are forced to face their cultural differences. Separated by COVID 19 and besieged by the realities of being Black in America, Richard and Ayesha look for common ground in counseling. A new life is imminent, how will it be greeted?

Starring: Portia Gregory, Arielle Siler, and Sherrell M. Tyler
About: Aunt Sarah’s only son is getting married today on Zoom. Janet has 3 pounds to lose in her face before the wedding starts, Danicka refuses to let her cousin turn the wedding into a man hunt and Aunt Sarah needs to know what to wear. If the three of them can manage to get on one call at the same time, maybe they can figure this thing out before the wedding bells ring.

What is Dinner & A Zoom?
A series of live performances streamed online using the Zoom Video Conference App. The performances are live, the actors are professional and the experience is remarkable!

Once you make your reservation, you will receive an email message with the ZoomFest link and log in instructions. If you don’t see the email in your inbox, please search your inbox and spam folder for a message from MOXIE’s box office. What are the technical requirements?
You will need to have the Zoom app on your device. If you don’t already have it, you can download it from the Apple or Google Play app stores. Alternatively, you can connect to the Zoom meeting on your browser. If you are not sure whether the Zoom app will work on your device, you can take this test.
