So Good It Was Bad

Thanks to the San Diego Foundation's Creative Catalyst Grant, Eternally Bad was a huge success. The workshop of this new musical by Javier Velasco with music by Candye Kane was performed at MOXIE on September 15, 2012. The cast included Melinda Gilb, Michelle Pereira, Kelsey Venter, James Newcomb, and Jacob Caltrider. Eternally Bad was originally conceived by Javier Velasco as a dance/theatre piece in 2002. It was later presented by his company, the San Diego Ballet, in 2003. Based on the book by award winning feminist cartoonist Trina Robbins, it is a wickedly funny, irreverent tribute to mythological “bad girl” goddesses from around the world. They sleep with dwarves, slip drugs into drinks, have catfights with their sisters, kill, get even, and generally raise hell. Original music was composed by Candye Kane and arranged by Steve Gunderson. To learn more about the process and production visit the Eternally Bad Blog
